OYLA - Omega Youth Leadership Academy

The Brothers of Phi Iota Chapter contribute to youth mentoring through the Omega Youth Leadership Academy(OYLA). This is a comprehensive and well organized community based youth development program designed to effectively empower and educate males of color in 5th – 12th grades on how to face, navigate through, and overcome today’s social and personal challenges.

Community-Oriented Policing Taskforce

Vision Statement: 
A Phi Iota Environment of Community Trust and Police legitimacy

Mission Statement:
In support of the 12th District’s Mission of maintaining a vital and symbiotic relationship with law enforcement, the brothers of Phi Iota Chapter shall be the bridge into its marginalized communities for the safety and well-being of its police and citizens. We shall achieve this by the implementation of district-wide priorities, serving on police oversight and use of force boards and policy-making commissions, hosting virtual town hall meetings, and providing procedural justice education and training. This will be accomplished through peaceful dialogue leading to voice, respect, trustworthiness, and transparency towards Community Trust and Police Legitimacy.

Achievement Week

Giving recognition to those who have made contributions toward improving the quality of life for Black Americans.

NAACP

Every district and chapter of the fraternity is required to maintain a Life Membership at Large in the NAACP.

Social Action

Chapters participate in activities that will uplift their communities. Voter Registration, Assault on Literacy and mentoring.

Health Initiatives

Chapters facilitate, participate in and coordinate activities that promote good health practices.

Scholarship

Intended to promote academic excellence among high school students, undergraduate members, and non-members.

Voter Registration. Education & Mobilization

Facilitate and participate in activities that uplift their communities through the power of voting.

Talent Hunt

Provides exposure, encouragement & financial assistance to talented youth engaged in the Performing Arts.

Memorial Service

Chapters conduct an appropriate service to recall the memory of those who have entered into the Omega Chapter.

Founder's Day

Omega Psi Phi ’s Founder’s Day Celebration is an annual event to celebrate the Fraternity & the Founders that established the organization.

Reclamation & Retention

An effort at the international, district and local levels to retain active brothers and return inactive brothers to full participatory status.

College Endowment Fund

Each year the fraternity gives at least $50,000 to Historically Black College Institutions (HBCU) to further Omega’s commitment of philanthropic support.
